Nothing Chats is bringing iMessage to its Android phone

Nothing Phone 2 owners can now use iMessage through the “Nothing Chats” app, powered by Sunbird. This feature aims to bridge messaging service gaps, but it relies on trust in Sunbird’s privacy measures. Sunbird acts as a relay for iMessages, storing iCloud credentials in an encrypted database and deleting them after two weeks of inactivity. While the feature generally works, it lacks some iMessage features, and group iMessages require all participants to be on iMessage. Nothing Phone 2 owners get exclusive access to Sunbird for the next few months, and the EU is investigating whether iMessage should be considered an Apple “core platform service.”
